Hi, I’m Megan andrews.
I have been the principal of the CenterForLit Online Academy for 5 years and have taught English Lit and Composition to 4th-12th grade students since 2016. I earned my B.A. in English from Hillsdale College and, in the years since, I have designed and implemented a writing curriculum for 4th-12th grade writers. Besides my work with students, I now train writing tutors in my method, working closely with them as they coach students in clear argumentation.
In addition to my work with the online academy, I have had 8 years of individual tutorial experience at both the elementary and high school levels. I frequently aid students who seek entry to top tier colleges, and I am delighted to discover each applicant’s peculiar interests and passions. In face-to-face tutorials with the elementary grades, I have specialized with students who suffered from RAD. My time with these students has equipped me to utilize kinesthetic methods in the classroom wherever possible to make difficult lessons approachable for those with special needs.
Whatever the grade level of my students, I savor the brainstorming step of the writing process. My composition method is primarily structural, informed at both the sentence and the paragraph levels by the narrative shape of the literary classics. While these structural principles are universal and, thus, form a common thread through my program, I allow the student’s personality and passions to guide my lessons. In my view, a lesson is only as vibrant as its student is peculiar. You writers make this tutorial experience evergreen.
